President & CEO, Liberty Mutual Canada
Garth Pepper is the President of Liberty Mutual Canada (‘Liberty’), a Division of the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and has over 30 years of industry experience. Based at Liberty’s Canadian headquarters in Toronto, Garth is responsible for the company’s leadership, strategic growth and direction across all Canadian branch offices, located in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Montreal.
Garth joined Liberty International Underwriters, Canada (LIU) in 2008 as Senior Vice President, Specialty Casualty and was appointed President in July 2015. Prior to Liberty, Garth held various positions with Chubb Group of Insurance Companies in the UK and Canada and led the Management Risk Practice for Integro Insurance Brokers in Canada. He is well known in the Canadian insurance community insurance community as a result of his career positions, his various written contributions in industry publications and as moderator, presenter and panel speaker for the Canadian Risk Insurance Managers Society, Professional Liability Underwriting Society, Canadian Chapter; the Rotman School of Business, University of Toronto and various other conferences.
Garth actively volunteers in the community through Liberty’s philanthropy initiatives which include the Relay for Life, Run for the Cure, Daily Bread Food Bank and the organization’s partnership with the Law Society’s ‘Lawyers Feed the Hungry’ program, and was a member of the 2017 Advisory Committee for the National Insurance Conference of Canada.
He currently serves as Co-Chair to Women In Insurance Cancer Crusade (WICC) and sits on the Board of Governors for Junior Achievement Central Ontario. Garth received a Bachelor’s (Hons.) degree in Business Studies from what is now London Metropolitan University, UK.
